Andrew Swart entered his freshman year wanting to break every Crawfordsville career pitching record. But he knew Cameron Hobson was entering high school the same year he was.
Even with another good pitcher right with him, Swart still made his mark. He finished as Crawfordsville’s career win leader with 40, then second for career strikeouts (359), career innings pitched (272) and wins in a season (11 in 2007 and 2008), and fifth with a 1.96 earned-run average. Finishing his senior season undefeated while helping Crawfordsville to the Class 3A state championship, Swart has been named the Journal Review’s 2008 Pitcher of the Year. It’s the first year Swart has received the honor. (Subscribe to the Journal Review’s E-Edition to view the entire newspaper online.)
