Mounties leave season with plenty of memories

Southmont’s boys soccer team came one game short of reaching its goal of winning a sectional championship.
But Southmont coach Alan Clifton said Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Crawfordsville shouldn’t take away from everything the Mounties accomplished in the 2008 fall season. “Did we reach our goal today? No,” Clifton said. “But what we accomplished this season hopefully gives them memories for the rest of their lives.” In the previous two seasons leading up to this fall, the Mounties went a combined 5-28-3. But a large group of seniors who tasted a little success when they won the Montgomery County championship their freshman year helped turn Southmont’s program around.
