Wiihab is the new rehab.
Physical Therapists at St. Clare Medical Center have started using the Nintendo Wii console to help patients regain motor skills they may have lost. “One night I was playing the Wii at a family member’s house,” said James Parsons, the director of physical therapy at St. Clare. “When we woke up the next morning, our shoulders were sore.” Parsons thought, if the Wii makes your arm sore, it must be forcing the body to work.
Wii is an interactive gaming system developed by Nintendo. The system allows gamers to stand and use a remote to play games such as tennis and bowling. (Subscribe to the Journal Review’s E-Edition to view the entire newspaper online.) |
