Warriors, Trojans pick up league wins

ROCKVILLE — The Class A No. 6-ranked Turkey Run girls basketball team limited host Rockville in the amount of successful field goals, steamrolling to a 61-28 Wabash River Conference win Thursday night.

Giving up just eight field goals all game — only five inside the three-point arc — the Warriors built upon a 15-8 lead after one quarter to lead 29-9 at the break.

Turkey Run (11-1, 5-0 WRC) also got to the free-throw line 26 times in the win.
The Warriors were paced in points by Adrianne Francis with 15 while Meghan Doss added 12.

Rockville’s (5-7, 1-1) leading scorer was split by Lindsey Greene and Beth Mahurin with seven points apiece.

Covington 45,
Attica 41 (OT)

At Attica, the Trojans needed an extra session to get the win to improve to 3-8 this season.

The win is Covington’s first of the season in the league as it moves to 1-3 in the Wabash River Conference.
The Ramblers needed an 18-point third quarter and 11 more in the fourth to overcome a 20-5 deficit in the first half.

Whitney Allen led the way for the Trojans with 22 points.

Attica falls to 0-12 (0-2).
Covington hosts South Vermillion Saturday.

Western Boone 61,

Clinton Prairie 34
At Clinton Prairie, the Stars (7-5) held down the Gophers to just eight first-half points, including just two in the first stanza to lead 33-8 at the half.

Brandy Woody led Western Boone with 24 points as Clinton Prairie falls to 4-8 on the season.

Western Boone travels to North Putnam Tuesday.
