Warriors win ninth straight

FARMERSBURG — The Class 1A state-ranked Turkey Run girls basketball stayed perfect in the month of January, trouncing host North Central, 69-39, in non-conference action Saturday.
The Warriors ran out to a 26-13 lead after the first quarter as Meghan Doss scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the first half. Chelsea Newnum scored nine of her 20 points in the third quarter to expand on a 39-21 lead at the break to lead 54-25 heading into the fourth quarter. Adrianne Francis chipped in 15 points as well for the 12-1 team. North Central was led by Amber Kemp with 10.
The Warriors host South Vermillion on Thursday. Fountain Central 70, North Vermillion 37
At North Vermillion High School, the Mustangs (8-6) picked up their first conference win of the season and fourth straight Saturday. Natalie Robinson led the way with 24 while Kenzie Lindquist added 21 to help the domination. Fountain Central held North Vermillion (6-6) to 15 first-half points and scored 23 more points in the third quarter to build on a 18-point half-time lead.
