NEW ROSS — A longtime tradition returns this weekend in downtown New Ross.
The New Ross Hometown Fish Fry, sponsored by the Walnut Township Community Organization, kicks off Saturday at the Walnut Township Volunteer Fire Department, 105 State St. Volunteers will serve up dinner for a freewill donation from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, Cole slaw, French fries, baked beans, drinks and desserts.
Bingo games begin at 6 p.m. Children’s games sponsored by New Ross Christian Church run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
“Just about everyone in town volunteers in some way,” WTCO treasurer Bonnie Rice said.
A 50/50 drawing wraps up the evening at 8 p.m.
Proceeds from the event benefit grants the organization awards to New Ross-area groups. WTCO also gives scholarships to graduating Southmont High School seniors.
The group continues raising funds to renovate the downtown Community Club building, where members hold meetings. WCTO received a $10,280 grant from the Montgomery County Community Foundation to install new restroom facilities, an ongoing project.
“It’s in the works, but it’s not completed yet,” Rice said.
