Police are looking for a suspect who robbed the Walgreens store in Crawfordsville on Monday.
Crawfordsville Police Department Assistant Chief Jim Sessions said the call about the armed robbery at the 24-hour pharmacy was received by Montgomery County 911 just after 3 a.m.
“The suspect had already fled by the time police made it to the scene,” Session said.
A store clerk and a customer were in the store when the robbery took place, Sessions said. The robber’s left hand was covered with a plastic shopping bag, and the robber indicated there was a weapon under the bag although neither witness ever saw one.
Witnesses told police the suspect repeatedly demanded money before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a white male with short, dark hair who stands between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Witnesses told police the suspect’s nose and mouth were covered with a piece of gray cloth. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored sweatshirt without a hood.
CPD Capt. Kurt Knecht is in the process of extracting video from the store’s surveillance cameras, but as yet has been unable to do so.
No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Crawfordsville Police Department at 364-5164.
