A Linden man remained lodged in the Montgomery County Jail Wednesday after being arrested Sunday and preliminarily charged with two counts of Class C felony conspiracy to deal marijuana over 10 pounds.
Bond has been set at $6,000 surety or $2,000 cash for Edrie S. Hunt, 53. Even if bond is posted for Hunt he cannot be released from jail, Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Casteel said, because he was wanted on a Tippecanoe County warrant for violating his probation in connection with a previous possession of marijuana charge.
Hunt’s arrest was carried out by officers from the Montgomery County Drug Task Force. Assisting agencies were the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Crawfordsville Police Department, Indiana State Police and Linden Town Marshal’s Office.
Casteel said the investigation into the case is ongoing. He declined to disclose the exact amount of marijuana confiscated during Hunt’s arrest, which took place at an undisclosed location.
Hunt received a two-year prison sentence in 2000 for a Montgomery County maintaining a common nuisance conviction. He was released from prison June 25, 2001. His criminal past also includes possession of marijuana convictions in 1991, 1995 and 2006 and a carrying a handgun without a permit conviction in 1990.
