Abilities Services Inc. has brought behavior management to its growing list of services.

“Behavior Management adds one more layer of service we can offer Montgomery County in an already complex system,” said Michelle Leonard-Smith, ASI chief executive officer and executive director. “Families sometimes find it hard to find an agency that can meet all their needs and this addition allows us the opportunity to bring enhanced services right to the door of those we serve.”

Joaquin Orozco recently joined the ASI team in preparation of adding this line of service. He is now the director of behavior management and an expert in behavioral consulting.

“Once a family has completed the Medicaid waiver, a behavior consultant will be assigned to that family or individual,” Orozco said. “We can work one-on-one with that person to find a better solution to any negative behavior.”

Behavior consultants visit an individual a few times a month or as often as needed to assess the target behavior. They then help develop a plan for caregivers.

Through the Bureau of Development Disabilities Services, individuals, businesses and schools can attain a Medicaid waiver. Once approved, services such as, behavior management, residential services, adult day services and more can be used to assist people in need.
