Pam’s Promise teamed up with Shoe Sensation this fall to provide shoes to local families.

The organization drew names for 40 pairs of shoes at National Night Out on July 30. A $1,000 Love Grant from the Montgomery County Community Foundation provided the seed money for the project.

Thanks to Shoe Sensation’s discounts, winners of the drawing could pick out a pair of shoes costing up to $30 from the regular-priced shelves and up to $50 from the clearance racks. Several recipients had more than one child’s name drawn.

Most of the shoes were already on sale before discounts were applied, leaving room for more names to be drawn.

Individual and corporate donors gave $2,880 for more than 100 additional pairs of shoes, covering most of the remaining list.

Pam’s Promise received a total $3,880 to help send Montgomery County’s youth back to school with new shoes. About 175 pairs of shoes were supplied.

One family’s seven children all received new shoes through the project.

Pam’s Promise thanked the community foundation, Shoe Sensation and the community for supporting the effort.
