Drug Free Montgomery County, Local Coordinating Council is proud to announce the launch of a new informational website which will be used as a resource for those dealing with substance use on any level. The website url is www.drugfreemoco.org.

Drug Free Montgomery County collaborated with the Montgomery County Health Department by applying for a grant through the Montgomery County Community Foundation to help fund the website. Through multiple conversations with community stakeholders and individuals in recovery, it was identified that there was a need for a one-stop resource for individuals locally.

“Our goal with the site is to provide comprehensive information for anyone, whether you are dealing with substance use disorder personally, or you are family or friends with individuals dealing with this disease,” said Samantha Cravens, CHES health educator at the Montgomery County Health Department. “In addition, we want the site to reflect that there are local resources available and by having all the information in on place can be helpful when ready to look for options that are best for those individuals.”

Visitors to the website will be able to find a wide variety of valuable information such as:

• A local “get help now” phone number

• Treatment and recovery options

• Prevention and education materials

• Harm reduction information

• Events and other valuable resources

The website includes many local and state resources, which will provide invaluable information for families and those dealing with addiction.

There are many groups working together including public health, local schools, first responders, law enforcement, mental health, the recovery community, treatment and rehabilitation, faith-based organizations and many committed individuals. Drug Free Montgomery County is dedicated to making a positive impact on the community by providing help, resources and encouragement.

Karen Branch, executive director of the Youth Service Bureau, who serves as the administrator for Drug Free Montgomery County, said, “We are so grateful for the partnership of the Montgomery County Health Department. They are so proactive in helping our community in so many ways. It will be great to have the resources listed in one place to increase accessibility for those who have a need for services.”
