The deadline has passed and the entry forms have been processed. The final preparations are being made for the first “Montgomery County has Talent for Scholarships” program on Feb. 2 at the Crawfordsville High School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Crawfordsville High School Alumni Association, is an effort to raise money for CHS student scholarships and to highlight talent from all over Montgomery County.
The following individuals are scheduled to appear: Claire Dennison, Kennedy Ellis and Brooke Lewis, Emmy Hale, Mary Halupka and Peter Halupka, Kamilah Hargrove, Dericka Jeffers, Brooklyn Jeffers, Paige Johnson, Aaliyah King, Angelina Leon-Leyva and Nivek Witt, Jozlynn Melvin, Layne Ratcliff, Lucy Southwood, Jack Woodrow Sweet and Karli Telford.
A $5 donation admission fee is requested. There will also be homemade cookies for sale and several silent auction items will be available.
“The purpose of this event is to help raise funds so that we may be able to continue our scholarship program for graduating seniors,” said S. David Long, alumni association president. “We have been able to fund these scholarships for many years due to individual and class donations as well as our yearly class recognition dinner. However, due to changing times, the dinner attendance had steadily fallen to the point it was no longer practicable. We would like to see the talent show grow into a vehicle where we can highlight local talent and provide a way for individual CHS alumni, former classes and just interested members of the community to support our scholarship program and the students it benefits.
“We know several former CHS classes gather throughout the year and as they do, we’re hoping they’ll recognize the benefit of continuing to support their ‘old school’ and the future leaders as they go off to further learning.”
