Food vendors have been dishing out specialty cuisine to music fans all summer at Pike Place, but the menu is expanding as a new concert series wraps up the season.

Crawfordsville Parks & Recreation Department is bringing local and regional food trucks to the park from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday in conjunction with the Pike Place Community Concert Series sponsored by Crawfordsville Rotary and Hoosier Heartland State Bank, featuring country-rock group Phillip Steven & The Open Road.

The 11 vendors participating in the event include 1832 Brew, barbecue, Bravo Tacos, Fat Bottom Donuts, Francis & Mount, Guac Box, kettle corn, Kona Ice and Sheepdog Coffee Co. A beer garden will feature Backstep Brewing Co. and Coal Creek Cellars Winery.

“Food trucks are definitely on trend for sure. Now we have a few local ones, so that’s nice,” parks and recreation director Fawn Johnson said.

Through a grant from the Montgomery County Community Foundation, children’s activities will be providing including bubble wands, Connect Four and sidewalk chalk. “I Love Crawfordsville” sunglasses will be given away.

Johnson said the department plans to host other food truck events at Pike Place next year.
