NEW MARKET — South Montgomery Community School Corp. has reached a new contract agreement with the superintendent, keeping the district’s top administrator on board for another three years.

School board trustees renewed the contract with Dr. Shawn Greiner, who managed a multi-million dollar renovation project and oversaw new investment in STEAM programs and career and technical education in recent years. Terms of the contract were presented in a public hearing Monday during the board’s meeting.

Greiner’s base salary increases to $120,000 this year from $118,500 under the previous contract. It tops out at $122,500 in 2021.

The contract includes a performance incentive that begins at $2,000 this year and increases to $3,000 in 2021.

Greiner’s benefits package includes annual retirement savings and health insurance contributions, life and dental insurance and a yearly teacher retirement contribution. He also receives a $3,000 car allowance and a $1,020 technology stipend each year.

The board also approved changing next spring’s commencement ceremonies to be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, due to Montgomery United Band’s performance at the 500 Festival Parade the following day.

In other business, the board:

• Approved hiring Philip Keller as high school physical education/health teacher.

• Accepted a request from Ladoga and Walnut nurse Madison Burton to change to a half-time schedule beginning this fall. Burton will share duties with Wendy Stull.

• Approved hiring Kayla Maddock and Shari Shaw as Little Mountie Preschool instructors and Hailey France and Katie Hopkins as preschool aides.

The board’s next meeting is 6 p.m. Aug. 12 in the corporation board room.
