Michael L. Berendes, vice president of manufacturing at LSC Communications, spoke to the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club on Thursday. LSC’s Crawfordsville plants produce between 15 and 20 million books per month and will celebrate its 100th anniversary of being in Crawfordsville in 2021 under either the RR Donnelly name or as LSC. That’s the same year the Crawfordsville Kiwanis will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Almost 70% of the books people may find in stores such as Barnes & Noble are printed by LSC and even the popular Harry Potter books were primarily printed here in Crawfordsville. These plants can print on demand anywhere from one to 200 books and have had some runs up to five million books. LSC is the largest printer of books in North America and one of its largest plants is in Crawfordsville. Join club members at 11:45 a.m. each Thursday in the Crawfordsville District Public Library.
