North FFA selling plants

LINDEN — One of the largest fundraisers for the North Montgomery FFA is continuing this week. Local residents have the opportunity to purchase several different types of flowering annuals and vegetable plants for home flower beds and gardens.

Rusk wins North’s top ag award

North Montgomery High School senior Kenny Rusk was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by Monsanto Company.

Schools raise awareness for student with rare disorder

Student leaders tackle issues at SADD conference

NOBLESVILLE — Nearly 600 Indiana SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) student leaders and their advisors from 50 different Indiana high schools — including Southmont High School came together at the 2015 Indiana SADD Celebration on April 15, at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Noblesville. As the nation’s leading peer-to-peer youth education, prevention and activism organization, SADD empowers young people to lead initiatives in their schools and communities that will encourage prevention education and create a positive effect on the lives of their peers.

Board impressed with iPad use at high school

LINDEN — The North Montgomery School Corporation Board of Trustees were encouraged to hear of successes of iPad usage at the high school at Monday’s regularly scheduled board meeting. Two high school teachers, Lee Douma and Matt Newkirk gave presentations that highlighted how they are using iPads in the classroom.

Southmont feeling Footloose

NEW MARKET — A familiar musical will be presented by students from Southmont High School and Southmont Junior High at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The show is full of wit, singing and dancing. Early in the show trouble for town officials starts to brew when a city kid moves to the country.
