Gardner Daniel Bowers, 80, of Veedersburg passed away at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and is now in His presence. 

Gardner was born Jan. 14, 1939, at Covington. He was the son of Gardner Sampson Bowers and Claudette Clark. He was a graduate of Covington High School. He married Nancy L. Godbey on Feb. 5, 1960, at Covington. She survives. He had resided in Veedersburg for the last 58 years. 

Gardner worked at Olin Cellophane Plant, later named Flexel, in Covington, retiring in 1997.

Gardner was a member of Covington First Baptist Church. He loved God, his family and his church. Gardner loved to work, riding motorcycles, camping, and fishing. He enjoyed traveling and family vacations. 

Surviving with his wife, Nancy, are children, Daniel Scott (Kimberly) Bowers of West Lafayette and Charles Douglas (Cathy) Bowers of Middleton, Wisconsin; sister Amber Brewer of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Gardner was preceded in death by his parents; sister Tedia May Snow; and younger brother, Robert Clinton Bowers.

Visitation will be from noon EDT Saturday, Oct. 12 at First Baptist Church, 515 Sixth St., Covington, until service time at 2 p.m., with Pastor Andy Harkleroad officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
