Beloved wife of 52 years to Kenneth, mother to Teri Poirier and Kimberly and Peter Taylor. Grandmother of Crystal, Karalyn, Cassandra, Ryan, Sara and Robert. Gigi to Trynitee, Landon, Gabriel, Savana and Memphis. Treasured sister of Pam and Ralph King, Trish and Don Bennett and Barb and Mark Roark. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She leaves countless friends, numerous students and sparks in the lives of children she touched. Predeceased by granddaughters Kelsey Ann and Charlee Rae.
Marsha was the daughter of Raymond and Charlene (Bakes) Baird born Oct. 3, 1943, at Milan, Indiana. She grew up in Indianapolis and Ladoga where she graduated from Ladoga High School in 1961. She earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Indiana University in 1967 and later completed a master’s in psychology.
Marsha and Kenneth were married Dec. 29, 1966, and lived at many Air Force bases in the U.S. and Bitburg, Germany, settling in Berwick in 1981. They enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the U.S. during Ken’s 30 years in the Air Force and after his retirement. She worked and volunteered at Good Shepard School in Barrington, New Hampshire, for 25 years. Although she was diagnosed with MS in 1985 she continued to overcome the effects. “I have MS, but MS doesn’t have me.” She shared her stories and challenges, speaking across New England at Christian Woman’s Club meetings. She was a founding member of New Covenant Baptist Church, member of the Berwick Ladies Auxiliary, PWOC, supporter of Alpha Pregnancy Resource Center and a life-time member of the NRA. Her radiant beauty, infectious smile and angelic soul will live on forever in our hearts and memories. Her favorite verse is Romans 8:38-39.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Ladoga Christian Church, 124 W. Elm St., Ladoga, with Pam King, Don Bennett and Mark Roark officiating. Friends may visit with the family following the service 4-5:30 p.m. at the church fellowship hall.
