Robert Dale Deck, 81, of Crawfordsville passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at home.

He was born Oct. 3 ,1937, at Crawfordsville, to the late Marion Albert and Hallie Frances (Turner) Deck.

He graduated from New Market High School in 1956. On June 20, 1973, he married Joan Deck. She preceded him in death Oct. 19, 2012.

Throughout the years he worked in construction, mainly for Randolph Construction. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, loved to fish and grill outside for his neighbors, and always had a bag of candy and was known as the “Candy Man.”

He is survived by step-sons, Robert (Laura) Waltman and Richard Waltman; sister Madonna (Bill) Frazier; three brothers, Eddie Paul (Wilma) Deck, Fred (Jeanne) Deck and Jack (Betty) Deck; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; sisters, Anna Mae Thompson, Latricia Dowell and Joyce Day; and brothers, Alfred and Charles Deck.

Cremation was chosen with a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Indian Creek Hill Creek Cemetery, with Pastor Vernon Dowell officiating. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care entrusted with care.

Fred was born to Madge Carman Corbin and David Corbin in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Both have preceded him in death, as has his brother, Jack Corbin. Surviving are his wife, Judith Shearer Corbin; his son, Chris; and his grandchildren, Karli and Tony of Elkhart, Indiana. Read more
