Dorothy G. (Crowder) Scott, 93, of Hillsboro passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2019, in Hickory Creek, Crawfordsville.

Dorothy was born Oct. 25, 1925, in the former Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. She was the daughter of the late Grover Brookshire and Bessie Viola (Davidson) Crowder. She was raised in the Hillsboro area, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1943. She had lived for 10 years in Wallace before returning to Hillsboro and residing there for over 50 years.

Dorothy was a homemaker, but worked from 1943-1946 for Indiana Bell as a telephone operator.

Dorothy was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and was baptized in 1931. She was active in the United Methodist Women and attended the WWU Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Fern Chapter # 194 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #188. She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, cooking and collecting bells.

On March 10, 1946, Dorothy married Jesse Edward Scott at Veedersburg. He preceded her in death June 17, 1989.

She leaves behind eight children, Mary Ann Lynch, Crawfordsvile, Zina Lou (Jon) Foxworthy, Veedersburg, Sue Beth Carlson, Hillsboro, William Edward (Deena) Scott, Bloomingdale, Alan Lee (Abby) Scott, Florida, Sally Jo (Chris) Taylor, Newtown, David Jay (Connie) Scott, Mellott, and Daniel Ray Scott, Crawfordsville; sister Marihelen Niskala, Schoolcraft, Michigan; sister-in-law Alma Crowder, Crawfordsville; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a niece; and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by granddaughter Michele Foxworthy; brother John H. Crowder; and a nephew.

Friends may call from noon until the service time at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Chaplain Boris Posso will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
