Russell Jewell McCullough, 84, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

He was born Oct. 16, 1934, at Norborne, Missouri, to the late Everett Leonard and Edna Jane (Snider) McCullough.

Russell graduated from Jefferson High School near Frankfort in 1953 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. On Dec. 23, 1960, at Advance, he married the love of his life, Martha Evelyn Benge, who survives.

He worked as a machine repairman for 38 years at General Motors in Indianapolis and retired in 1997. He enjoys hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha; son Russell J. “Rusty” McCullough Jr.; two daughters, Kristina (James) Sowers and Mary Ellen Johnson, all of Crawfordsville; three brothers, Carroll Gene McCullough of North Salem, Melvin L. (Mary) McCullough of Jamestown and Everett Ray (Shirley) McCullough of Frankfort; sister Joyce Robison of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Andrew Sowers and Chelsea (Dustin) Morman;  great-grandchild Ezra Morman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson Mason Wall.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Monday, June 10 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. Burial will follow at New Ross Cemetery.
