Hardy R. Keeling, 82, a lifelong resident of Veedersburg, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Exceptional Living Center in Brazil.
Hardy was born Aug. 31, 1936, at Veedersburg, the son of Leslie C. and Thirza M. (Brewer) Keeling. He married Judy A. Cates on Oct. 21, 1966, at Covington.
Surviving family include: wife Judy A. Keeling, Veedersburg; daughter Cindy (Alan) Franklin, Hillsboro; five sons, Jeffrey (Linda) Keeling, Winterville, North Carolina, Brian (Charlene) Keeling, Attica, Steven (Kim) Keeling, Waynetown, James Keeling, Butler, Pennsylvania, and Rodney Keeling, Attica; brother Owen L. (Carol Wolfe) Keeling, Kingman; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Peacock.
Hardy graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1954. Earlier in life he had been employed at Hyster in Danville, Illinois, and following that position he was employed as an engineer assistant for the Indiana State Highway Department, retiring from there in 2002. He was a member of the Nazarene Church.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing; he especially enjoyed the fishing trips he had taken with his sons to Canada. He was an avid sports fan, with his favorite teams being Colts Football, IU Basketball and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 15 at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 at the funeral home with Pastor Virgil Moss officiating. Burial will follow at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
