Doris J. Orahood, 79, of Covington passed away at 2 a.m. EDT Sunday, May 12, 2019, at her residence.

She was born June 22, 1939, at Kingman, the daughter of the late Roy and Leah (Kessler) Sanders.

Doris married Herschel L. Orahood on Sept. 26, 1958, at Covington. He survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Melody (Chuck) Johnson of Linden and Dawn (David) Frye of Otterbein; son Allen (Dawn) Orahood of Williamsport; two brothers, Lowell Jarvis of California and Terry (Candy) Sanders of Arizona; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris worked in the Covington High School cafeteria as a cashier until her retirement in 2000. She was a 1957 graduate of Kingman High School and a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. Doris enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, attending church and also attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, May 16 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, Covington. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 15 at the church and one hour prior to services Thursday.
