R. Dean Rosentreter of Waveland passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was 88.
Born Dec. 6, 1930, at Lafayette, he was the son of Emil and Ada Rosentreter. He graduated from Chalmers High School in 1948. On May 25, 1957, he married Ruth Wilson at Westville, Illinois. She passed away Nov. 26, 2009.
Mr. Rosentreter received the Purple Heart Medal while serving in the United States Army in Korea.
He farmed in White and Tippecanoe counties before moving to Waveland in 1965 where he continued farming.
He is a 64-year member of American Legion Post 72, member of the Crawfordsville Veterans of Foreign Wars, Amvets of Rockville and a 54-year member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Crawfordsville.
He enjoyed travelling, Colts Football and Purdue and Pacers Basketball.
Surviving family include: son Roger (Denise) Rosentreter of Crawfordsville; and granddaughter Katie Rosentreter.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Ralph Rosentreter of Monticello; sisters Margaret Mahoy of Indianapolis; and Norma Mann of Anaheim, California.
A funeral service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 15 at Burkhart Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Stone officiating. Private entombment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery North Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday.
