Robert Foster Williamson, 92, passed Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at Whitlock Place.

He was born Dec. 12, 1926, at Crawfordsville, and was a 1944 graduate of Ladoga High School, where he played basketball. He worked for RR Donnelly & Sons as a prepress technician, retiring in 1991. He also was a member of Ladoga Presbyterian Church.

He joined the U.S. Navy on Dec. 1, 1944, and received his training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. He was stationed on the USS Tabora AKA45. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on Aug. 17, 1946.

He was a kind, warm-hearted man who loved his family and sports.

He married Helen Williams in 1947 and they lived in Ladoga for 68 years before moving to Whitlock Place in 2015. Bob and Helen had been married for 71 years at her passing in August of 2018.

Survivors include: his children, Steve (Ruthanna) and Dave (Janie), both of Crawfordsville; sister Janet (Dave) Caster of Labelle, Florida; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by sisters-in-law Maxine Williamson, Mary Walters, Rosemary Williams and Doris Dice; and brothers-in-law Homer Williams and Jim Dice.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Mike Whitacre officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Oak Hill cemetery South.
