Jerry Wayne Howard

Feb. 27, 1949-Jan. 25, 2013

Mr. Jerry Wayne Howard, 63, Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, at 1:18 a.m., in St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Crawfordsville, to Lloyd M. and Rozella M. (Clendenen) Howard. He married Linda K. Klepzig on March 26, 1966, in Crawfordsville. She survives.

Mr. Howard was a Journeyman Machinist and CNC Programer, having worked as a supervisor at Lafayette Quality Products, Lafayette, and Hudson Machine & Tool, Crawfordsville. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School; member of the Eagles Lodge; was known nationally for his founding of the non-profit grassroots organization “Trails End” advocating property rights; was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association; and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and skiing, making maple syrup and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna Howard, Crawfordsville; his sons, Dwayne A. (Michelle) Howard and Dennis D. Howard, both of Crawfordsville, and Derrick (Melissa) Groumoutis, Crawfordsville; his brother, Dale Howard, Huntington, Texas; grandchildren, Cheyenne (Ty) Fairfield-Williams, Cody and Tyler Howard and Trevor, Peyton and Jordyn Groumoutis; and great-granddaughter, Lillian Grace Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Daniel; and brothers, James and Donald.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastors Jeffrey Vogelzang and Scott Potter officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill North Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m.
