FRANKFORT — North Montgomery ruined senior night at Frankfort High School on Friday with a 41-0 victory over the winless Hot Dogs. Fueled by a defense that stopped the Hot Dogs cold all night, the Chargers never allowed Frankfort past midfield until late in the game, especially on the line of scrimmage.

Charger Coach Josh Thompson complimented his offensive and defensive lines after the game. The Chargers (4-4.3-3) took control of the game with a 27-0 advantage in the opening period.

“I thought we played pretty well,” Charger Coach Josh Thompson “A lot of this week has been a focus on us to make sure we continue to improve.”

After North senior Kade Kobel got the scoring started with a 21-yard scoring reception from senior quarterback Jaron Bradford with 7:22 in the first quarter, the Chargers rolled in the second quarter.

First Bradford scored from 10 yards out with 10:09 on the second period clock. When the Chargers got the ball back on a mishandled kickoff return by Frankfort (0-8, 0-6), Bradford scored on an 8-yard run just 23 seconds later putting the Chargers up 19-0.

The onslaught continued with second quarter when senior Zak Searle scored on a five-yard jaunt.

The Chargers struck again with just :21.6 remaining in the first half when Bradford found senior Keifer Carmean streaking across the middle of the field for a 38-yard touchdown pass.

The Chargers led 33-0 at the break.

North Montgomery’s defense was able to get in the scoring column just one minute and 49 seconds into the second half when Hot Dog quarterback Sam Michael was sacked in the end zone. The two points put the Chargers up 35-0 enacting the IHSAA mercy rule. The game finished with a running clock.

Bradford accounted for five out of the six scores by either running or passing the ball. The quarterback’s last score came on a 1-yard run with 1:36 left in the third period.

North Montgomery’s offense totaled 325 yards in the game.

Frankfort was only able to cross midfield when the Charger junior varsity offense fumbled on their own 48 yard line. But, on the very next play they lost eight yards on a quarterback sack.

Defensive Chargers

North Montgomery held the Hot Dogs to just 24 total yards in the game. Frankfort was held to just two completions but they were both for negative yards of minus 2 and minus 11 yards. Frankfort did not find much success running the ball either. On 28 rushing attempts they gained 37 yards.

Bradford on fire

Charger quarterback Jaron Bradford rushed for 72 yards and threw for another 118 yards on a cold, rainy and windy night. He had a hand in five of the Chargers scores. The sixth score he optioned the ball to running back Zak Searle.

North Montgomery will be tested next week when they host Danville to finish the season. A win will give the Chargers a winning season.
