Crawfordsville athletic director Bryce Barton announced the hiring of a new football coach on Wednesday afternoon. Pending school board approval, Kurt Schlicher will be the new varsity football coach for the Athenians this coming fall.

“Crawfordsville high school is excited about bringing Kurt Schlicher on board to serve as head football coach,” Barton said. “Kurt will bring a lot of energy and passion to this position. He has a great football mind having coached on either side of the football for over 25 years. His experience of coaching multiple sports should help in the process of trying to get more multi-sport athletes here at CHS.”

Schlicher, a 1987 North Montgomery graduate most recently has been an assistant to the football, girls basketball, and baseball programs at McCutcheon High School, while serving as a social studies teacher.

“I’d like to thank the administration at Crawfordsville for giving me this opportunity,” Schlicher said. “I look forward to the challenge of making Crawfordsville football something the community can be proud of.”
