Athenians, Chargers, Mounties all fall
The Fountain Central boy’s tennis team picked up a 5-0 Wabash River Conference win over Attica to claim the WRC title outright.
At No. 1 singles Carson Eberly defeated Travis Allenduff 6-0, 6-3, while Cody Linville beat Reed Goodwin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Brent Myers defeated Dusty Marlatt 6-4, 6-4.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Jacob Keeling and Denton Otero beat Antonio Jerkins and Caden Jeffries 6-0, 6-1, while Sawyer Keeling and CJ Yager beat Noah Blankenship and Jake Garrett 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Crawfordsville fell to South Putnam 3-2.
Austin Motz picked up a win at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-4, while Thatcher Gambrel won at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-2. Austin Heeke fell at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0. Owen Bennett and Zach Fichter fell at No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-3, while Peyton Groumoutis and Ziair Morgan lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
North Montgomery dropped a 4-1 match to Seeger.
Brookes Walters picked up a win at No. 3 singles over Shawn Grady 7-5, 6-3. Jakob Kirsch fell to Peyton Laffoon 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 at No. 1 singles, while Hunter Kashon lost 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to Trey Brook-Ellis.
At No. 1 doubles the duo of Will McKinniss and Carter Livingston lost 6-1, 6-4 to Logan McFatridge and Drew Holland, while Hayden Turner and Ben Eldridge fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to Colin Ford and Kaiden Peterson.
Southmont dropped a 4-1 match to Terre Haute South.
Luke Tesmer and EJ Brewer picked up the lone win for the Mounties at No. 2 doubles 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Carter Ellis and Parker Mahurin. At No. 1 singles Adam Cox fell to Canaan Sellers 6-0, 6-1, while Trevor McKinney lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to Matthew Roberts, and No. 3 singles player Conner McVay fell 6-2, 6-0 to Caleb Morris. At No. 1 doubles the duo of Reese Long and Micah Korhorn fell 6-0, 6-4 to Aiden Fellows and Stephen Kallubavi.
Athenians in action at Sheridan
The Crawfordsville girl’s and boy’s soccer teams were in action at Sheridan on Thursday evening.
The girl’s tied 2-2. Faith Rogers and Pitchaya Ruby scored Crawfordsville’s goals. In the boy’s game, the Athenians won 3-2 with goals from Joseph Sanchez, Javier Hernandez, and James Tinoco.

The Southmont boy’s soccer team fell to Sagamore Conference foe Tri-West 4-1 on Thursday.
Chargers beat Hot Dogs
A hat trick from Sidney Campbell led North Montgomery’s girls soccer team to a 5-3 Sagamore Conference win over Frankfort on Thursday.
Chargers golf in
The Crawfordsville girl’s golf team was in action against Greencastle (215) and Northview (187) on Thursday. The Athenians fired a 194 to place second led by medalist Bailey Mittal’s 43. Evie Redding fired a 48, while Georgia Kincaid had a 51, and Gwen Redding a 52.
North Montgomery (203) fell to Western Boone (196). Chloe Maxwell fired a 48 for the Chargers, while Morgan Swick had a 49, and Grace Littell a 52, and Abbie Horn a 53.
Mounties volleyball wins again
The Southmont volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 28-26) over Attica on Thursday. Natalie Manion led the Mounties with 29 digs, while Sidney Veatch had 20 assists. Lexi Nelson had 16 kills.
