American Legion Byron Cox Post No. 72 went 2-2 in four games over the weekend at a tournament in Tilton, Illinois. 

Post No. 72 defeated Lincoln Legion 8-4 on Friday, before falling to the same squad 6-3 on Saturday. They also defeated Charleston Legion 6-4 on Friday, but fell to Post No. 210 senior team 20-3 on Thursday.

In the 8-4 win over Lincoln Legion Frankfort’s Christian Lopez went 3-3 with a RBI and run scored, while Lebanon’s Jonathan Moore, Seeger’s Khane Stephen, and Crawfordsville’s Jake Decker each had a pair of hits. Lopez also picked up the pitching win in six innings of work.

Western Boone’s John Bromberek had two hits and drove in a pair in the 6-4 win over Charleston Legion, while Bromberek’s teammate at Marian University and former Southmont Mountie Cole Wemer pitched five innings to pick up the win, before Jake Decker earned the save in an inning of work. Frankfort’s Casey Henry had a pair of hits in the loss to Post No. 210, while Fountain Central’s Josh Adams had two hits and drove in a run in the 6-3 loss to Lincoln Legion.

Post No. 72 is now 11-5 on the season and will play Crawfordsville High School’s summer team on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at North Montgomery.
