Mounties notch first SAC win

Southmont moved to 2-0 on its young season and 1-0 in the Sagamore Conference as the Mounties were able to take care of Frankfort on the road on Thursday in four sets 3-1 25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 25-22.

Mallory Mason set up the Mountie offense all night long with 40 assists. Regan Remley and Dara Watson both led South wiht 13 kills each and Cheyenne Shaw recorded 10.

Taylor Anderson anchored the defensive side of the ball for the Mounties with 28 digs. Chelsea Veatch added another 18 of her own.

Southmont will be back in action on Saturday to compete in the North Putnam Invite.

Chargers fall to Gophers

North Montgomery was back in action for it’s second game of the season as the Chargers hosted Clinton Prairie. The Gophers would end up getting a sweep of the Chargers 3-0 as North falls to 0-2 on the season.

North Montgomery like fellow county rivals Crawfordsville and Southmont, will make the trip to North Putnam for their invite on Satuday.

Girls Golf

Athenians pick up win over Clovers

Crawfordsville girls golf notched another win on Thursday as the Athenians made the trip to Cloverdale and defeated the Clovers 217=230.

Carli Payne led the way for CHS with a 51 with Sadie Walker and Christen Saunders ending their rounds with a 54. Ada Hutson shot a 58, McKenzie Wilson a 59 and Ciara Wilke rounded out the scoring for CHS with a 61.

Crawfordsville will make the short trip to the Crawfordsville Country Club on Saturday to compete in the Southmont Invite.

Boys Soccer

Chargers fall to Knights on the road

North Montgomery boys soccer hit the road on Thursday to due battle with Lafayette Central Catholic.

The Chargers would ulimately fall by a final score of 10-1.

With the loss they fall to 0-2 on the season and will welcome South Vermillion on Saturday as part of a girl/boy double-header.

Bison best Athenians

Crawfordsville hosted Benton Central in their home opener on Thursday evening and would fall to the Bison by a final score of 3-1.

CHS returns to the pitch on Monday when they host Greencastle.

Boys Tennis

Crawfordsville at McCutcheon

The Athenian boys tennis team was back in action on Thursday for their first away match of the season. It would be yet another close match but CHS would fall to the Mavericks 3-2.

James Murphy at one singles would best Nathan Wood 6-2, 6-3  while Wyatt Motz defeated Nathan Huang 7-5, 6-2 at two singles.

Wyatt Gilman would defeat Jude Hutchison at three singles 6-2, 6-3. At one doubles the duo of Thomas Bowling and Rowan Gambrel were defeated by Kaiden Konkle and Landon Waeltz in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 1-6. Brendan Warren and Nolan Watt at two doubles were bested by Alex McGarvey and Johnny Sherlow 3-6, 3-6.

The Athenians will be back on the courts on Monday when they welcome Benton Central.
