The fifth annual Mayor’s Breakfast for Scouting, held Wednesday at the Crawfordsville District Public Library, invited community members to hear from John Cary, scout executive and CEO for the Crossroads of America Council and Mayor Todd Barton, who discussed the importance of Scouting, particularly in Montgomery County, while encouraging donations during the annual fundraiser.
Proceeds from the event support four local scouting groups: Cub Scout Pack 909, Troops 247 and 365, and Venture Crew 1252. The funds help support scouting events such as summer camps and travel for activities including kayaking, rock climbing, hiking and dog sledding, along with reducing costs for memberships.
The fundraising goal this year is $10,000. Last year, local Scouts raised about $7,000.
