The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety met Wednesday and approved an amendment to a grant agreement between the city and the Indiana Department of Health.

The city accepted a grant in the amount of $102,780 for the renewal of an early intervention specialist to support the fire department’s community paramedicine’s quick response team. The QRT focuses on combatting drug overdoses and substance abuse issues. The grant total to date is $423,893.

The board also accepted a $10,000 Innovation Award from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. The funds will help support the childhood immunization program administered by the community paramedics. The paramedicine program is working with local schools to ensure children younger than 18 are receiving their proper immunizations, along with the COVID-19 vaccine for those who are eligible.

In other business, the board:

• Corrected the previously approved Pike Place closing dates for the Rotary Club’s Pike Place Community Concert & Food Festival to July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10.

• Agreed to remove the unsafe building order previously issued by the city for property at 910 Tuttle Ave. The property has been repaired and renovated and is ready to placed on the market.

• Learned the paving and milling work that was set to begin earlier this week has been slightly delayed. Work may begin today in two well-trafficked areas, Main Street in the downtown area and Purple Heart Parkway, weather permitting. Street crews will keep affected property owners notified with fliers and on social media.
