Gamers are invited to gather at Brothers Pizza Company to help raise money for Riley Children’s Hospital.

The Crawfordsville eatery plans to host an Extra Life 12-hour Charity Marathon from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the restaurant at 205 W. Market St.

Extra Life is a charity that allows gamers to play games in support of its parent company, the Children’s Miracle Network. Children’s Miracle Network is a charity group that represents hospitals in a the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, including Riley. Extra Life has raised more than $50 million for sick and injured kids since 2008.

Brothers Pizza plans to donate profits that day to Riley Hospital.

“We were at Gen Con in August and we met with Indianapolis Extra Life Guild Leader Bob Cahill at a seminar,” said Luke Lowe, Brothers Pizza owner. “We were really interested in what he had to share and decided we would try to run a gaming charity event at Brothers with Extra Life providing some of the board games.”

Anyone who wants to play the board games will pay $10 per person. The money goes straight into the donations for Riley.

“For the gamers, we will cook up so food every so often for them to eat as a thank you,” Lowe said.

The charity gaming event will be live streamed on the restaurant’s Facebook and Twitch pages. There also will be a link for additional donations.

Sign-up sheets are available at the pizzaria for anyone who wishes to participate. Organizers encourage participants to sign up so they can make sure there will be enough table space to accommodate everyone.

“We plan on doing this event every year, amongst other events,” Lowe said. “So, if you like board games, come out and enjoy the fun.”

Brothers Pizza plans to host more gaming events, such as tournaments with prizes, and other charity events in the near future.

“We are thinking about doing a Halo Tournament when the new Halo and X-box Project Scarlett releases.” Lowe said. “We love Halo and have done those types of tournaments in the past and the community really enjoyed it.”
