Montgomery County Surveyor Tom Cummins received approval to purchase a UTV and trailer for his office. The drainage board has already given support for the purchase.

Cummins said the vehicle will allow him to accomplish field work faster and more efficiently, with the ability to carry the necessary tools. The vehicle will also assist in minimizing crop damage, field compaction, and wear and tear on the department truck.

County Administrator Tom Klein suggested commissioners could use their Cumulative Capital Development Fund which has a balance of $451,988.

Cummins said the cost would be approximately  $15,000 and is looking to purchase the UTV from Tom’s Marine.

Fees charged under IC 5-14-3-8 (h) and (i) will be deposited into the fund which will be used for the replacement, improvement and expansion of capital expenditures, or for the reimbursement of operating expenses incurred in providing enhanced access to public information.
