Deloris (Basham) Hays, 84, went to be with her Lord Jesus peacefully in her home Saturday, March 28 at 7:25 a.m.

Born March 8, 1936, at Huff, Kentucky, she was a devoted and loving wife of 56 years to William “Joe” Hays. They were married Feb. 14, 1964.

She was the greatest stay-at-home mom to three daughters, Sheryl (Ron) Klepzig, Holly (David) Timpany and Melody (Les) Farley, all of Crawfordsville. She loved and adored her grandchildren, Ryan (Carrie) Dale, Kody (Christina) Dale, Kierra (Tyler) Gross, Channing (Jenna) Dixon and Dyllon Hays; amd great-grandchildren, Elijah Joe Hays, Hunter Gage and Corbin Dale and Rhettlynn Gross.

Deloris grew up and graduated from high school in North Salem, Indiana. She worked at Jefferson National Insurance Co. in Indianapolis. Then she married and moved to Crawfordsville. She served as a Campfire Girl leader. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, niece, friend and caregiver to all. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Sophie Basham; brothers, Leonard, Lonard and Landon Basham; sisters, Juanita Rhyne, Madonna Gentry and twin, Doris Basham.

Due to public health concerns, a private family service will be held at Burkhart Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, with Jim Denman officiating. Her service may be viewed on Facebook. She will be laid to rest at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
