David McCartney of Darlington is seeking the Republican nomination for the Montgomery County Council At-large seat.
McCartney is a patrol officer with the Crawfordsville Police Department.
His past experience includes eight years in road and streets, two years in tax assessment and 16 years as a business owner.
His memberships include Team Mason, National Kidney Foundation and the Carnegie Hero Fund.
He and his wife, Kelly, are the parents of four children.
If elected, McCartney said he will focus on making change without cositn the taxpayer. He pledges to give back his council salary during the four-year term to other departments or organizatios in need, such as the Animal Welfare League, Womens Resource Center and the Fund for Living Donation.
He also will advocate for the removal of the wheel tax and for a change in the gas tax percentage returned to the county by the state.
