Parke Heritage High School senior Cassie Miller has been selected for the Indiana Association of School Principals Academic All-Stars program. She was recognized at a special luncheon held April 25 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
Only one senior from each school may be nominated and only 40 students throughout the state are selected for this honor. Nominees are evaluated on their strength of transcript, grade point average, SAT scores, extracurricular activities, and commitment to leadership, community service and other activities.
As a part of the application process, nominees wrote essays about an educator who has been a significant influence in their lives. Cassie surprised her mother, Melanie Miller, by nominating her for this honor. Melanie is a social studies teacher at PHHS.
Cassie received one plaque to personally keep and another to be displayed in the school’s academic hallway. Melanie also received an award for being her teacher of honor.
