A new Republican group has formed in the county and is planning to introduce itself Saturday.

The Montgomery County Republican Women’s Club will host a meet and greet event at 10 a.m. Saturday at 116 S. Walnut St. Anyone interested in learning more about this new group is welcome to attend.

“We are looking to expand and bring in people who want to get involved,” said Christian L. Sharp, club president.

She said the purpose of the group is to serve and support the local Republican party.

“I’m excited about having a Republican women’s group in Montgomery County again,” said Jim Johnson, Montgomery County Republican County Chairman. “We used to have a group years ago and I’m thankful that it’s being revived. It’s another way to get involved and make a positive impact in our community.”

The club will meet monthly at 10 a.m. the first Saturday of the month at 116 S. Walnut St. It is open to anyone 18 and older. Membership dues are $30 annually, with a portion going to local dues and the remainder going to state dues.

“We have all been so blessed to call this area our home,” Sharp said. “We are a community filled with tradition, history, art and culture. We have always valued our freedoms and have taken comfort in our love for liberty. In the words of President Ronald Reagan, ‘We’ve been blessed with the opportunity to stand for something — for liberty, freedom and fairness. And these are things worth fighting for, worth devoting our lives to.’”
