Ralph Dale Winger, 81, of Linden passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020.

He was born Sept. 18, 1939, at Linden, to the late Forest E. and Dorothy R. (Martin) Winger. He married Sherry (Cox) Winger on Jan. 10, 1997, at Linden. She survives.

Ralph was a 1957 high school graduate. His first marriage was to E. Margie Dyer on March 18, 1962. They were married for 22 years. He worked for RR Donnelley’s for several years, and then began working as a lineman for Tipmont REMC. He retired from Tipmont in 2004 with 39 years of service. He was a Mason and a member of the Whitesville Christian Church.  As a member of Linden United Methodist Church, he enjoyed building and maintaining the new building. He was a Master Gardener and liked “making sawdust” in his woodshop. He treasured spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and friends. He loved watching his grandsons farm, eating breakfast in Ladoga with his friends, and playing euchre with the Linden Library Card Club that he helped establish. It was often said that he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Linden; two daughters, Terri (Allen) Cline and Tami Galbo, both of Ladoga; step-children, Duane (Diane) Shelton, Doug (Angel) Shelton and Debbie (Bill) Calder; grandchildren, Kristin (Scott) Paris, Tyler Cline, Kyle (Tori) Cline, Filippo Galbo and Enzo Galbo; great-grandchildren, Vivian and Wyatt Paris; step-grandchildren, Chase Calder, Kyle (Krish) Calder, Ron Johnson, Jacob Shelton and Adam Shelton; two step-great-grandchildren, Johannah Calder and Konley Calder; and siblings, Dodi Safford and Nancy (Gene) Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Fred Winger; and sisters, Beverly Walker and Mary Winger.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Linden United Methodist Church, 609 S. Main St., Linden, with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in Linden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Ralph’s memory may be made to: Whitesville Christian Church; Linden Public Library; or Linden United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be provided at the church. Due to the current government mandates masks will be required and social distancing is expected to be followed. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with Ralph’s funeral arrangements.
