Robert Paul Powers, 89, of Ladoga passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Ben Hur Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born July 30, 1931, at Middletown, Ohio, to the late A. Roe and Zelma C. (Sheley) Powers. On Dec. 18, 1954, he married Sandra Todd in Ladoga. She survives.

Robert graduated from Ladoga High School with the class of 1949. He then proudly served our country in the Marine Corps as a machine gunner from 1951 until 1954, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and later in life he was invited to participate in an Honor Flight. Robert was a truck driver for Donnelley’s and Coast to Coast in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Ladoga Christian Church and a Ladoga Volunteer firefighter for 42 years. He was a hard worker who loved to help people, always friendly and caring. He loved to travel, watch NASCAR, Johnny and June Carter Cash, and was a great story teller. He loved his children, and grandchildren, and spending time with them.

Robert is survived by wife Sandra; children, Beth (Mark) Wire, Kim (Jim) Elless, Janet (Dave) Long, Tod Powers, Greg (Viki) Powers and Peggy (Mike) Lowe; siblings, James Powers and Sarah (Bob) Bradley-Warren; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Amber (Powers) Sparks; daughter-in-law Stacey (Gentry) Powers; and brother Dick Powers.

Robert will be laid to rest privately by his family in Ladoga Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Amber Powers Sparks Scholarship Fund at the Montgomery County Community Foundation in Crawfordsville. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with Robert’s funeral arrangements.
