Shirley Maxine Redden, 84, of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Ben Hur Health and Rehab.

She was born Feb. 4, 1935, at Smartsburg, to the late Omer Dale Elmore and Lucile Conrad Henry Elmore. She married Donald Eugene Redden on May 31, 1953, at Young’s Chapel Christian Church. He survives.

Shirley graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1953. She worked at the Elston Bank, Exchange National Bank in Colorado Springs, and retired as a bookkeeper of the Montgomery County Department of Welfare in 1988. She was a member of Browns Valley Christian Church, a 50-year member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Past Mother Advisor of Alamo Rainbow Girls, and honorary member of the Grand Cross of Colors. She was also a former Brownie Scout leader and Assistant 4-H leader. Shirley loved family history and enjoyed working on genealogy. She was also known among family and friends for her delicious pies.

She leaves behind five children, Ed (Catherine) Redden of Monte Vista, Colorado, Rochella (Jack) Leach of Crawfordsville, Roxana (Jeff) Silko of Clayton, Rhonda (Brian) Smith of Wingate and Gale (Mary Beth) Redden of Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Norma Kirts; and brothers, Norris Henry and Ed Elmore.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Pastor David Finch officiating. Friends can visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at the funeral home.
