Shows focus on community, connection

COVINGTON — The Beef House Dinner Theatre is celebrating its 30th summer season with two powerful shows about community and connection. The Beef House has been producing summer dinner theatre since 1997. This summer they will produce a brand-new original jukebox show as well as a wildly successful Broadway hit.

In the new show, The Day the Music Lived, it’s 65 years to the day after Buddy Holly perished in that infamous crash. A snowstorm rages at a small Midwest airport and all flights are cancelled. Seven stranded strangers with nothing but their devices, a few musical instruments and time on their hands, begin a conversation about their shared love of music.

With music made famous by Buddy Holly, John Denver, Jim Croce, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Otis Redding, Ricky Nelson and Patsy Cline, The Day the Music Lives reminds us why some songs can stand the test of time and how they connect us all. Both witty and heart-felt, The Day the Music Lived will leave audiences humming many tunes they love and remember.

The Day the Music Lived opens with an evening performance on July 10 followed by matinees on July 11, 12, 16, 18 and 19 as well as another evening show on July 17.

When the world stopped on Sept. 11, 2001, kindness soared in an isolated Canadian town. Twenty-five years later this summer, the Beef House Dinner Theatre brings you the award winning musical triumph Come From Away.

In Come From Away, a breathtaking musical based on a remarkable true story, 38 commercial flights from around the globe are diverted for days to tiny Gander, Newfoundland. Unfazed by the arrival of nearly 7,000 surprise guests, the residents provide light in a dark time, welcoming the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and hope.

This uplifting celebration will warm your heart and renew your faith in mankind. Come From Away ran over 1600 performances on Broadway from 2017 until 2022. Critics across the country call this one of the greatest musicals in recent history. Staged simply with a few chairs and 12 actors, Come From Away by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, continues to thrill audiences across the country.

Come From Away opens with an evening show on July 24 followed by matinees on July 25, 26, 29, 30, Aug. 1 and 2 as well as another evening show on July 31.

All seats are $72 and include the show, a bountiful buffet dinner, salad, famous Beef House rolls, soft drink, dessert, tax & fees. Group rates are also available for groups of 20 or more.
