From the information in this article, it appears that 4-H Inc. has given up on relocating the fairgrounds to the property they purchased a few years ago. What a shame!

As one of richest agricultural counties in the state of Indiana, it does not speak very well for the county leaders to fail to step up and support 4-H, Inc. in their effort to build a new, modern fairgrounds that would be strategically located on the city's edge with easy access to I-74.

Other nearby counties have invested in the future of agriculture and their youth by building new or significantly upgrading their county fairgrounds in recent years. As a result, they benefit from regional shows and exhibitions that bring visitors to their communities while also providing their citizens with a modern facility that everyone can be proud of. Meanwhile, the county leadership in Montgomery County has sat on their hands and left 4-H, Inc. to twist in the wind trying to figure out how to build a new fairgrounds that everyone could be proud of.

Drive around west central Indiana and take a look at what other counties fairgrounds look like. With the exception of Fountain Co., you will find the Montgomery County fairgrounds to be significantly inferior to that of our neighbors.
