Mounties down Wolves on senior night
Southmont wrestling honored their seniors Tuesday with a 66-9 win over the Parke Heritage Wolves. Justin Emerson and Kaden Newgent were both recognized before the meet for the Mounties.
South cruised to the win as Brier Riggle (113), Thomas Woods (120), Maddox Cade (126), Jeffrey Pine (132), Marlin Williams (138), Emerson at 145, Newgent at 152, Max Music (160), Micah Kiger (170), Wyatt Woodall (195), and Ayden Dickerson (285) all picked up wins.
South ends their dual meet record at 15-6 on the season and will travel to Culver Academy on Saturday for their final tune up before next Saturday’s sectional.
Athenians notch easy win over Trojans
Crawfordsville made the short trip to Covington on Tuesday and picked up a 60-22 win over the Trojans.
Taiga Koyanagi (106), Camron Teeple (113), Parker Wray (126), Keegan Alsman (132), Landon Vaught (132), Jaziel Gil-Herrera (145), Ashton Wilson (152), Braeden Hites (160), Calvin Dittmar (170), and Keegan Cokel (195) all earned wins for CHS.
SWIMMING
Crawfordsville vs Terre Haute North
After having a successful showing at the Sagamore Conference meet on Saturday, the Crawfordsville swim and dive team was back in action as they hosted Terre Haute North.
It was another successful night in the pool as the girls picked up a 120-53 win while the boys came away victorious 125-43 as CHS picked up the sweep.
Crawfordsville will travel to Brownsburg on Thursday before hosting the annual Athenian Invite on Saturday.
Girls Basketball
Chargers fall on the road to Patriots
North Montgomery girls basketball hit the road on Tuesday to take on a talented Seeger Patriots team and fell 51-28.
Seeger jumped out to a 21-4 lead after one quarter, but the Chargers rallied in the second, out-scoring the Patriots 12-4 to trail 25-16 at the half. Over the final two quarters however the Chargers got out-scored 26-12 as the Patriots pulled away for the win.
With the loss the Chargers fall to 3-18 on the season. They return home on Friday as they’ll take on Sagamore Conference foe Lebanon in a girl/boy double-header beginning at 6 pm.
