ELMDALE — A 22-year-old Crawfordsville man was killed Monday in an early-morning crash on Old State Road 55.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene near Old 55 and C.R. 500W shortly after 5 a.m., Sheriff Ryan Needham said in a news release.

A 1994 Honda Civic driven by Brendon McDole, 19, Crawfordsville, was headed southbound on the highway when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, Needham said.  McDole’s passenger, Matthew Watson of Crawfordsville, was ejected from the vehicle.

Watson was pronounced dead at the scene.

McDole was taken to a Lafayette-area hospital with apparently non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Those with information are asked to call Sgt. Jake Watson at 765-362-3740.

Indiana State Police, Waynetown Fire Department, S.T.A.R. Ambulance Service and the Montgomery County Coroner assisted deputies at the scene.
