Chargers fall to Gopehers

North Montgomery softball continued its long stretch of games away from home on Thursday traveling to Clinton Prairie. The Chargers fell by a final score of 24-5.

Piper Ramey collected two of the three Charger hits and drove in and scored two runs each.

The Chargers will conlcude the busy week with one last road game on Friday as they travel to take on Sheridan.

Athenians edge out Warriors for 2-0 start

Crawfordsville boys golf was able to narrowly defeat Sagamore Conference foe Danville on Thursday at the Crawfordsville Muni. CHS defeated the Warriors 185-188. Tanner Gilland and Hayden Jeffries both carded 43’s to lead the way for CHS. Thomas Bowling ended his night with a 48 while Braxton Smith rounded out the scoring for the Athenians with a 51.

Crawfordsville improves to 2-0 on the young season in dual meets and will get ready for their second 18-hole tournament of the season when they travel to compete in the Danville Invite on Saturday.

Mounties down Patriots and Trojans on links

Southmont got two victories under their belt on Thursday when they hosted both Seeger and Covington at the Crawfordsville Country Club. South came away with a 163 to place first on the evening with Covington shooting a 198 and Seeger a 199.

Senior Luke Tesmer earned medalist honors shooting a 39 in the Mountie win. Nolan Allen and Austin Foley both recorded 40’s with Harrison Haddock rounding out the scoring with a 44. South will join Crawfordsville and North Montgomery and most of the Sagamore Conference Saturday at the Danville Invite.

Girls Tennis

Mustangs earn another WRC win

Fouintain Central girls tennis earned another WRC win on Thursday when the Mustangs hosted South Vermillion and came away with 4-1 win.

Haley Webb was victorious at one singles over the Wildcasts Amelia Craig 6-0, 6-1. Alydia Mellady took care of Shirley Kennedy 6-0, 6-0 at two singles. The lone loss for the Mustangs came at three singles when Josie Harshbarger fell to Jessicas Servis 6-0, 4-6, 10-12.

At one doubles Marylee Muniz and Hannah Prickett defeated Emily Vaughn and Leah Sampson 6-0, 6-2 and Kendall Eberly and Laney Hoagland took care of Kate Craig and Anna Zucca 6-1, 6-3.

FC improves to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in WRC play. They’ll be back in action on Monday when they host another WRC foe in Attica.

Mounties get first win of season vs Red Ramblers

Southmont girls tennis secured their first win of 2023 on Thursday when they hosted Attica and came away with a 5-0 win.

Hanna Long was earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at one singles, Marley Jones a 6-1, 6-0 victory at two singles, and Kela Johnson rounded out singles play for the Mounites with a 6-0, 6-0 win.

At one doubles Courtlyn Carpenter and Olivia Surface brought home a 6-4, 6-0 win and Haylee Hall and Jozee Jones were winners 6-0. 6-0 win at two doubles.

The Mounties improve to 1-2 on the season and will be back in action on the courts next Wednesday when they host Seeger.
