4-27 Roundup: Mustang tennis and Charger golf both pick up wins

Mustangs sweep Mounties

Fountain Central just keeps winning as the Mustangs hosted Southmont on Wednesday and defeated the Mounties 5-0.

Lillie Fishero defeated Hanna Long 6-0, 6-2 at one singles and Haley Webb picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bailey Barker at two singles. Rounding out the singles spots Angela Gonzalez won 6-1, 6-0 over Angela Gonzalez at three singles.

At one doubles Emily Jimenez and Hannah Prickett won in three sets over Dori Frederick and Marley Jones 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(2). Rounding out the wins, Marylee Muniz and Kendall Eberly defeated Alexa Bradley and Chaney Scott 6-0, 6-3 at two doubles.

“I felt Fountain Central’s three Seniors really set the tone for their victory tonight,” Southmont coach Rob Reimondo said. “It would’ve been nice to steal that 1 doubles victory but it wasn’t in the cards.  We need to bounce back quickly because we have some tough opponents ahead.”

With the win FC improves to 9-1 on the season with the Mounties falling to 2-2. The Mustangs will be back in action on Friday night as they host Attica while the Mounties will be back in action this evening at Danville.

Chargers come away with win over SAC opponent Frankfort

North Montgomery took on Sagamore Conference opponent Frankfort on Wednesday on the links and came away with a 181-225 win over the Hot Dogs.

Hayden Turner was the medalist of the meet with a 41, Alex Chapman carded a 45, Neal Jeffrey a 47, and Lighty for the Chargers ended with a 48.

With the win the Chargers improve to 4-1 on the season and will get ready to compete at the Lebanon Invitational on Saturday.
