4-H plans for a ‘spook-tacular’ time

Posted

It’s Spooky Science time again.

All families are invited to the Seventh annual Spooky Science event from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Montgomery County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Organizers will host a drive-through style event through the beef barn. Visitors should enter from the north side of the fairgrounds, off of Fairgrounds Avenue. There will be signs and volunteers to help direct traffic. The first 100 participants will receive a goodie bag with hands-on activities that relate to the three mission areas of 4-H: science, healthy living and civic engagement. All youth will receive sweet treats.

This event also will allow visitors to learn more about what the 4-H program has to offer youth. While families cannot get out and walk around, they can still enjoy livestock stations and learn about projects, trips and other opportunities 4-H has to offer.

The event is free and open to all ages. Families are encouraged to bring their children dressed in their Halloween costumes. Youth do not have to be 4-H members to attend.

Enrollment for 4-H started Oct. 1, however, there is still time to enroll. To enroll in Montgomery County 4-H, visit online at https://v2.4honline.com or stop by the Montgomery County Extension office, 400 Parke Ave., Crawfordsville. The enrollment fee is $15 per child and mini 4-H (grades K-2) is free.
