Mounties fall to Tigers in slug-fest
Southmont is still in search of its first Sagamore Conference win as they fell 17-6 to Lebanon on Tuesday in six innings.
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning and scored a single run in the second before adding five runs each in the third and fourth. Lebanon would seal the win with three-run sixth.
South tallied seven hits in the loss as Adam Cox led the way with two while also scoring two runs. Connor McKinney and Mason Hall each drove in a pair of runs and Nick Scott, Trip Ward, and Dylan Howell all collected a single hit each.
Southmont falls to 2-13 (0-10 SAC) with the loss and will travel to Lebanon on Thursday.
Mustangs take second at Bi-County
Fountain Central wrapped up the two-day Bi-County Tournament on Tuesday and placed second behind Covington who claimed the Bi-County title with a 393.
FC shot a 412 and had both Wesley Jackson and Jaylin Payne make the All Bi-County team.
Jackson led FC with a 95 and Payne scored a 102. Other scores for the Mustangs included a 106 from Koby Wolf, 109 by Kameran Krug and Carter Merryman carding a 118.
FC returns to the links next Tuesday for a three-team meet with Seeger and S. Vermillion at Harrison Hills.
Chargers drop match to Knights
North Montgomery made the trip up to Lafayette on Tuesday to take on Central Catholic. The Knights would end up besting the Chargers 170-184.
Haze Kashon led the Chargers with a 42 with Drew Norman finishing right behind with a 43. Hayden Turner carded a 45 and Alex Chapman and Neal Jeffrey both ended the night with 54’s for the North Montgomery.
The Chargers will host West Lafayette on Thursday as a tune up for hosting the Sagamore Conference meet on Saturday.
Athenians pick up senior night SAC win over Hot Dogs
Crawfordsville celebrated senior night Tuesday as the Athenians hosted Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort. CHS would come away with a 4-1 win over the Hot Dogs.
Victories for CHS came from Samantha Rohr at two singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lilly Holston. Harmony Taylor at three singles defeated Jocelyn Sewared 6-0, 6-0. The duo of Cathleen McGrady and Lilly Klingbeil at one doubles brought home a 6-1, 6-0 win over Carleigh Williams and Lizzie Kurth and Elyse Widmer and Mia Wagner at two doubles defeated Alaina Dudley and Kate Gabe 6-0, 6-2.
CHS improves to 4-1 in the SAC and will conclude their conference schedule Friday as they host Western Boone.
Chargers swept by Bronchos
North Montgomery traveled to Lafayette Jeff on Tuesday and was swept 5-0 by the Bronchos.
The Chargers will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to Pike.
Mounties come away with narrow win over Trojans
Southmont traveled to Covington on Tuesday and came away with a 3-2 win over the Trojans.
The Mounties picked up wins at all three singles spots as Hanna Long was a winner 6-2, 7-5 at one singles. Bailey Barker picked up a three set win at two singles 6-4, 5-7, 7-5. Marley Jones rounded out the wins for the Mounties with a 6-1, 6-3 win at three singles.
Dori Frederick and Courtlyn Carpenter fell at one doubles 6-3, 6-0 while Kela Johnson and Alexis Bradley fell 6-2, 6-1 at two doubles.
The Mounties will be back in action on Thursday at home as they welcome county rival North Montgomery for a county and conference match up.
Mustangs sweep Eagles, improve to 12-1
Fountain Central traveled to South Putnam on Tuesday and made quick work of the host Eagles, coming away with a 5-0 win.
Lillie Fishero defeated Brinlee Clark 6-0, 6-1 at one singles to remain undefeated on the season. Haley Webb took care of Ava Watson 6-0, 6-0 at two singles and Alydia Mellady was victorious at three singles 6-1, 6-0 over Catherine Hodge.
At one doubles the duo of Emily Jiminez and Angela Gonzalez defeated Alie Newby and Sydnee Boswell 6-0, 6-0 and at two doubles Marylee Muniz and Hannah Prickett took care of Kylie Arnold and Kaley Hodge 6-2, 6-2.
Fountain Central is now 12-1 on the season and will host Benton Central on Thursday.
